Absence

She hugs herself to sleep each night
And prays that her angel is alright.
No matter what she has been told…
She knows that this absence is pure fool's gold.

You should see her when he’s not here
Counting the days until he reappears.
And a brief call is all it takes
To bring back happiness and ease the ache.
